Ashley Crockett: Vice President

By Ashley Crockett

Hi there, I’m Ashley Crockett, ONA’s brand-new vice president. I’m a junior convergence journalism major from Memphis, Tenn., with a minor in political science. This summer, I’m participating in the London study abroad internship program and plan to bring those experiences to the ONA table next fall.

As most of you (hopefully) realize, the Internet is a wonderful tool for journalists, and I’m excited to be part of an organization that will help Mizzou students realize its full potential. Most of us probably already get our news online — in fact, I find a good percentage of the news I view linked on Twitter — which is why it’s vital for journalists of all ages to take advantage of the different platforms available online. From convergence to strategic communications, and even to non-journalism majors, the Internet is invaluable and being a part of ONA is a great way to discover new, innovative uses for online content.

As vice president, I’ll be our president’s right-hand woman. I’m up for any and all challenges this next year may bring. A huge goal for all of the new executive board is to bring in more members. And not just journalism majors. Everyone is welcome at ONA, and I hope more students will take advantage of that.

Plus, I’m the president of Cupcake Club…so there’s a good possibility of delicious treats at our meetings!
